Cyclone Mocha formed due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal is gradually getting stronger.
In a statement issued by the Meteorological Department on Thursday, it has been told that there is a strong possibility of the low pressure turning into a cyclone.
The Meteorological Department in its statement mentioned that even today, Kolkata as well as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas and East and West Medinipur, North and South Dinajpur, intermittently. It will keep raining. Winds can also blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. That's why people have been advised not to leave their homes unnecessarily.
On Saturday, it will gradually move towards the coastal areas with strong force. Due to its effect, it is already raining. During the last 24 hours, 2.1 mm of rain has been recorded in the capital Kolkata, while there has been continuous rain in North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and East and West Medinipur.
Here, the state administration including the Kolkata Police has started preparations to deal with the cyclone. According to the instructions of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, preparations are being made in all these areas to prevent damage due to rain and storm.
Preparations have also been started to take people to safe places in the coastal areas.
